Brook designed a comprehensive renovation of the Seaway Bank Building. Once one of the largest Black-owned banking and lending institutions, the building has historic significance for the neighborhood.

Brook led a visioning session with local elected officials, community organizations, realtors, developers and non-profits. The participants agreed that the renovated building should serve as a community hub. Current owner, Self-Help Federal Credit Union, sees the renovation as an expansion of the building’s relationship with the community.

Exterior renovations include new curtainwall, roof repair, site work, MEP replacement and new drive-through. National Housing Services, the building’s first tenant, occupies 4,000 square feet on the street level. The credit union’s 1st Floor space includes a customer lobby, teller counter, offices and conference rooms. Additional Self-Help management offices occupy part of the 2nd floor with more than 9,000 SF available for future tenants.

The lower level includes a multi-purpose room available for tenant use and can be also rented for community events.
