Daley College Finish Upgrades

Chicago, IL

Brook Architecture designed and managed a design FF&E package for Daley College’s library, student activity room and student lounges. With an accreditation walkthrough eminent, the college wanted to upgrade these areas to accommodate 21st century technology and reflect the way its student uses the library.
Brook accelerated the design and specification process by working closely with the furniture vendor, manufacturers, general contractor and the client. Brook presented several design options to the President of Daley College.
The library received new furniture, refinished circulation desk, carpet, and paint all designed in a cool blue and green palette with a contemporary mixture of textures and patterns. A “cloud” ceiling feature layered under the existing acoustic tile ceiling grid cleverly updated the lighting scheme.
New modular seating in the library allows students to collaborate and creates a sense of community. Organic-shaped computer tables placed in the core of the space replaced the outdated computer stations tethered to data outlets along the walls
The student activity room and student lounges used the same color scheme for new tables in standard and pub height. Wall graphics added visual interest and energy to the space.
Construction Cost: $350,000
