Dawson Technical Institute Finish Upgrades

Chicago, IL

Brook Architecture was brought on by City Colleges of Chicago to update the aging finishes and visually reconnect the satellite school to Kennedy King College.

In an effort to expedite the design process, Brook worked closely with City Colleges and the JOC Contractor to clarify scope and make recommendations based on the tight budget. Brook Architecture developed and presented two color schemes for administration and office spaces, classrooms, hallways, cafeteria and the daycare run by Centers for New Horizons.

The cafeteria received new vinyl plank flooring installed at a 45 degree angle to break up the expansive space. The school colors were introduced as an accent wall which is woven throughout the project. The daycare flooring was specified to meet programmatic, durability, maintenance and stain resistance requirements.
