Planned by Northwestern Memorial Healthcare, the Care Center will occupy a currently vacant parcel that sits at the southwestern corner of W. 48th St and S. Cottage Grove Avenue. The building will stand five floors, encompassing 120,000 square feet of medical, retail, and community space and parking. The $130 million development will meet sustainability requirements by achieving LEED Silver.

Brook Architecture is managing the project’s community engagement initiative and supporting the medical equipment consultants for the team’s leader, Lamar Johnson Collaborative. The center will serve more than 50,000 patients and family members from Bronzeville and nearby communities every year and  create approximately 1,000 construction and one hundred healthcare and related jobs.

Construction could begin in summer 2023 with a scheduled opening in summer 2025.
