PROJECT ARCHITECT
Reports to: Studio Director
Responsible for: Architectural Associates
Location: Chicago, IL
FLSA Status: NonexemptPosition Summary
The Project Architect will be responsible for the coordination and production of quality instruments of service for our clients. The Project Architect will determine the work assignment from either the client or, when necessary, the Project Manager, and lead a team of 2-3 persons in development of Contract Documents. The Project Architect will possess management, design, and construction detailing and technical skill as well enthusiasm for a challenge, the design product and the architecture profession.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1) Business Management
• Develop and maintain positive client relationships and establish new client relationships
• Promote company values and long-range goals
• Anticipate and determine client and client representative needs to ensure consistent delivery of service
• Represent the company to client and client representatives in complement to the company
2) Technical Management
• Design, develop and monitor quality and production standards of assigned projects, and anticipate and
resolve technical problems
• Lead in the development of and monitor the production of quality contract documents
• Monitor, and manage the client budget to complete the project as well the internal budget to service
the project
• Provide code, space planning, and construction interpretations
3) Talent Management
• Mentor, and motivate the design and technical staff members
• Ensure adherence to quality standards at high productivity levels
• Communicate clear expectations to project teams client expectations and adjust strategy as needed to reach the intended outcome
• Assist in the recruitment of professional/technical staffQualifications
• Professional degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited program
• License to practice Architecture
• At least 5 years of experience in architecture and command of the architectural design, documentation and execution process
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites, BIM 360, Revit; and a willingness to explore and introduce new products and software to the team
• Ability and willingness to travel to meet with clients and monitor job sites in the Chicago area
